Alycopp 0 Posted October 24, 2010 Hi banded a month ago and first fill 3cc in 11cc band Friday. My question is I just ate 1/2 cup cottage cheese with a tablespoon of hummus and I am still hungry. Is that normal? Should I be getting some kind of satisfaction from this or is it just that I havene't eaten since Thursday so nothing is really going to satify me yet? elcee 3,341 Posted October 24, 2010 The band works best with solid food e.g meat, chicken, fish, veggies etc. These foods stay in the pouch for longer and will satisfy you for longer. Cottage cheese although it is healthy is still technically a slider food. It slips past the band easily and will not give you the feeling of satisfaction that you are after. Try eating more dense foods and you should see a difference.
honk 780 Posted October 24, 2010 Since you had your fill on Friday are you on mushies because of the fill? My doctor requires full liquids 24 hours and then mushies 24 hrs after a fill. Other than that cottage cheese is not going to keep you as full as 3oz of solid Protein. My first fill was 4 cc's and I did not have restriction. My second fill was 2 more and I have some restriction but not enough. If you are on mushies I would try to space out your "meals" so that you are eating every couple hours and won't be so hungry. Alycopp 0 Posted October 24, 2010 Thanks. Yes I had to be on Clear Liquids for 3 days, mushies for a week and then soft foods for a week. I figured I would not get full off cottage cheese but was hoping.
vlp1968 83 Posted October 24, 2010 It's very possible your first fill won't give you restriction. Only a lucky few have that happen. It took me 3 fills to get any kind of restriction. Hang in there, it gets better. I agree with eating fairly often, so you don't let yourself get famished. Good luck!
WrenBird 11 Posted October 24, 2010 Firstly: That doesn't sound too appetising to me. Eeek :-/ lol Secondly, Elcee is right. If you can't eat those kinds of foods, maybe try getting an unfill. Some people don't realise that having too much fill can also make you put on weight. Sounds crazy, I know, but I'm in the same boat at the moment.
