Just wanted to share that tonight was one of those nights that I was really glad to be banded! Me and some friends went to watch the UFC fights and usually I eat and eat through the whole 4 hours. Shrimp, fries, chips, wings, dessert... I usually end up so overstuffed it hurts!! Well, tonight was the first UFC I'd gone out to after being banded, and I could hardly eat anything! I really enjoyed it! I munched at the appetizers, just like everyone else at the table, I wasn't scarfing them down and then ordering more! I feel so good to not be controlled by food anymore! I also know that I did not set myself back a week on my weight loss! Yes, maybe a day because of the fried food, but that's do-able!

Anyway, just wanted to share... :)

Woohoo! Congrats!

I ate some KFC today. Blergh...It was a mixture of potato and chips...I felt like crap afterwards, but I could hardly eat anything. Yes, it's a fantastic feeling to look at food and not want to scoff the whole lot!

P.S: UFC is awesome.

Cheers.

That's really encouraging. One of the things keeping me from saying yes to the band is situation just like you talk about. If I know I can nibble a bit and not lose it, that helps my decision.

And that is exactly why the band is a wonderful thing! We can be in control and not at the mercy of every calorie-laden thing out there! I do eat junk sometimes, but it's my choice and I can handle it. Yesterday, I shared a piece of chocolate cake with 2 people (it was my anniversary!) and I felt great. We couldn't finish it, so we left some for my son. Can't imagine doing that pre-band.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
