ChubbyBunnie 0 Posted October 22, 2010 I recieve SSI for bipolar disorder, and I have Medicare A&B with Kaiser. I've read online that if you have medicare A&B that you will be covered. But I'm not sure with Kaiser. I have a BMI of 65 and I also read that if it's over 40 you don't have to have a medical condition to be covered. Again I'm not sure of this with Kaiser. So I was wondering if anyone has been in this sitsuation, and has any advice. Thanks!

Kaiser has HMO and PPO and will have their own requirements for weight loss surgery. I have regular medicare and a blue cross supplement. You can determine what guidelines Medicare have for national and local. Just go under medicare centers for disease. Go under coverage determinations. Select advanced searh and enter the information and it will tell you what they will approved and under what circumstances. I would advise you to contact Kasier directly and get their coverage quidelines.

If I am not mistaken Kaiser is a Medicare Advantage plan. Their coverage and guidelines may be different from Medicare.
