This band is going to cost us a fortune...

First I bought new clothes b/c my old ones were too big, then I got my hair done, now I want new jewelry to wear with my new clothes.

LOL I can't wait to get dressed up now and go somewhere. I feel so good about myself!

Thankfully my birthday is Monday and I've asked everyone for clothes, belts, earrings or gift cards.

I was thinking of selling my old clothes on ebay and using the money to buy some clothes at an OP shop. My favourite jeans are already hanging off of me...At first I was a bit upset by that but then I realise "hold onnn...I'm losing weight...That's a good thing" lol.

Ask for some of that stuff for Christmas!

I met two friends today for lunch and found an outfit to wear that actually fit (most of my clothes are from up to 100 pounds ago. One of them has seen me in process and knows about the band; the other last saw me 75 pounds ago. Not sure if it was professionalism (he's in HR) or if his wife has him really well trained but he did not mention my weight loss at all. In the course of the conversation I did tell him about the surgery; but it felt good to "dress up" (I work from home which means I can wear my reallllyyy baggy clothes) and wear a nice outfit.

I used to "reward" myself with food. Now I can "reward" myself with clothes!

Haha...it's all still cheaper than rising medical costs  I got a beautiful diamond/sapphire "band" of my own to commemorate my journey  I liked the idea of a visible symbol and well, heck, I just like jewelry, too :w00t:!

I'm going to wait until I'm at goal and then I'm going on a shopping spree like you've never seen. I'm going to buy everything I've ever wanted since I was in my teens but couldn't wear because I was fat. The damage could be well into the thousands. I've already warned my fiancé lol :w00t:

Absolutely!!! You spend every damn penny you can on yourself. You deserve it. Just think of it as making up for lost time. I even promised my husband I'd buy some trashy bras as long as they are to lacy and itchy. Now only if the scale would move down just one pound I'd have some hope of shopping soon.

I absolutely love that I need smaller clothes, but i'm not loving that it costs money to buy clothes!

Unfortunately for me, my job in cancer research pays poverty wages and I can't endulge in this shopping the way I want to!

I asked my husband for a James Avery charm Bracelet for Christmas. We agreed for every 20 pounds lost, I would get a charm from him  It will be a nice way to commemorate the journey for me.

My mom said when I went home from thanksgiving, she would buy me some clothing, I can't wait! It's hard to still pull off wearing clothing I wore 75 pounds ago! I'm looking baggy! :w00t:

I hear ya!

As I gained weight, fortunately, I never threw away my jeans. I've dropped 56 pounds and 3-4 sizes, depending on clothing, so I've been safe so far. However, another size or two and I'm in baggy city. I woke up this morning and all I had in my closet were 3X shirts and I'm getting to where 1X is big on me, lol, so I tossed on a 3X and I'm really grumpy about it, I look like I'm in a tent, seriously. So, this weekend, I've definitely got to get rid of all my 'big girl' shirts and get something that actually fits.

My mom wants us to go on a big shopping spree, but as of right now, I couldn't in good conscience do it, so I've got to hold her off for quite a bit longer.

BUT.... as much of a pain as this whole clothing debacle is, I wouldn't change it for the world!!! :w00t:

I'm looking a bit baggy too! Even though I've lost less than 10 kilos, my favourite pair of jeans are too big now! I'm a bit happy and a bit sad about it...Not quite sure what to think lol. :w00t:

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
