I was banded 6 weeks ago and until my first fill 10-18-10 I felt full below my sternum. Now that I have had a fill no matter what I eat or drink I feel full right behind my sternum and not in my belly. I was wondering if it is just me or if this is normal? It is very different than feeling full in your belly after eating a big meal before I was banded.:wink2:

I was banded in May and that is how I feel after eating. My lower stomach still feels empty after I am done eating but I am not hungry. It is so hard to get used the not feeling full anymore. I know I have to stop eating when my nose runs or I will be in pain.

Yes, the full feeling is very different. I don't even like to call it full, I prefer satisfied.

When I start to burp I know I'm getting very close to being done with my meal.

It is a different feeling for sure. I miss the nice full feeling after a somewhat large meal.

Yes, that "full" feeling is a thing of the past. It becomes "not hungry" or "satisfied."

I just wish I had any kind of full feeling when eating. I still get hungry...I'm eating as much as I did before I got the band...It's a shame.

The only reason I'm losing weight it because I work my butt off everyday and eat healthy food.< /p>

I think that is one of the reason I am struggling so much right now. I MISS that full feeling in my lower stomach. I can eat a small amount, get the burps, etc., know that my pouch is full, but it is not "satisfying" to me. I'm hoping that it's because my pouch really ISN'T full cuz I'm not at great restriction yet. I hope it gets better! The other day I really was not able to physically eat any more, yet I felt hungry and my stomach actually groweled! I'm beginning to think my "fullness receptors" are located somewhere below the band...yikes!

While I haven't had my tummy growl at me :w00t:, I know what you mean about not being able to eat more, yet feeling hungry.

This is a new development for me since my last fill and I'm trying to work with it. I have to eat my portion and get up and move away from the table. Eventually I do get satisfied.. the hunger isn't overwhelming.

I keep telling myself.. hunger isn't an emergency. There's always more food if I really really need it.

Hang in there, hopefully it will get better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
