Its 5 days till I am banded, my hubby has been a jerk all day (he gets this way before I have to have surgery.....nerves) so I came here to see whats going. I am so glad b/c this was the first post I read and have sat here lmao.... each and every one of these stories are so funny, it could be a Dave Letterman top 10 list .... things spouses say after weight loss.... thanks for putting the smile back on my face.

Aw hope his nerves calm a bit at least so you can relax. It's interesting how much of a "we" process it is for things like this and our loved ones. Hope he behaves for ya ;)

LOL. I know he meant well, but you know how men show affection. They'll give you a football smack on the butt and expect you to translate that as, "Honey, you look nice today". We have to develop a thick skin because anytime you loose weight, people tend to talk about the heavier you as if you were someone else. They forget that fat or thin, it's you the whole time. You're going to hear things like, "You've lost weight, thank God, because you were HUGE!" or "I'm glad you lost weight, you had really let yourself go!". And you'll be standing there like HELLO, you're insulting me to my face and smiling at the same time...

Oh Lord only knows how many times we'd be divorced if I didnt have thick skin. My husband really doesnt know tack and his filter from his brain to mouth wasnt ever fully developed from time of birth :D

LOL! I love it! The men in our lives ....Mine told me the other day that he was so proud of me. I thanked him and asked him what for? And Bless his Lil ole heart...stated in all seriousness...Babe! your butt has wrinkles in it!

There we were him looking so proud of his compliment....me about to faint and running to the mirror!:o

I have learned to take those in the spirit they are intended. My husband (as it seems perhaps many men) lacks a brain to mouth filter that "flowers it up" before it comes out. He is not tactful but is sincere.

Sometimes though particularly when I am hormonal...when he says stuff that is meant as compliment but really irritates me because it came out all wrong....I turn and look at him, raise one eyebrow...blink and him twice in wordless silence and he knows to rephrase because I will actually smack him....but then he loves it when I do that to, so he always wins. lol.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
