After fills how many days do you stay on liquids?

Recommended Posts

My doc said 48 hours and his nurse said only 24. I'm playing it safe and staying on liquids for the full 48 but I'm wondering what are your doctors telling you? What do you do?

I'm starving! I can't wait to eat real food tomorrow but I'm also sort of nervous. I'm getting liquids down fine but this morning I almost threw up one of my meds. It made me wonder how tight I'm going to be.

My Dr says 3 days, then mushies for a week, then soft foods for a week, and then back to regular foods. I go Friday and am dreading being starving again. I hope I get some restriction.

I just went for my 2nd fill today and my doc says liquids for 24 hours. I work with 2 ladies that have the band as well and one lady only has to be on liquids for 24 hours the other ladys doc said 48.

I think 24 hours to be safe and then play it by ear, start slow and see what you can and can not tolerate.

Wow my Dr. is strict! I knew he was, but I am alittle jealous right now that you all get to eat so soon after a fill I have to go through hell all over again! LOL Hopefully it won't be so bad this time around.:)

My doctor says 48 hours on liquids, then I can slowly introduce solids, chewing well.

I didn't understand this on my previous fill, so I tried going to right to solids immediately. I just threw up everything I ate for 2 days. I could only get two bites down. Then it settled down and could eat about a cup and a half, so I'm getting another fill. This time I will be sure to have only liquids for 48 hours!!

You're making me feel thankful for my surgeon! We have to stay on liquids the rest of the day of the fill, then puree/mushies the next, and then back to normal as tolerated. My first fill was this morning and I'm already dreaming about my cottage cheese for Breakfast in the am!

This makes the most sense to me. I think I'm gonna follow this menu my doc said no food before the fill and Clear Liquids for 24 hours after...no other instructions were given about when to start regular food again but this schedule sounds good to me. :)

Mine is very similar.

Liquids rest of day.

Mushies/soft that evening.

Regular as tolerated the next day.

Any problems tolerating one stage.. go back down and restart.

Continuing problems..call & go back in for unfill.

However, I get very small fills. Those who get larger fills may need to progress slower.

I'm glad it's all individualized as we are all so different. :wink2:

Mine just says be kind to the band. Eat however we're able to. On most fills I had no problem eating normally. With this last one at 8cc I'm pretty tight (more than usual) in the morning, so I'm sticking to soft foods. Not a problem at all since I don't feel like eating anyway.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
