Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

I will be banded 9:50am tomorrow

Recommended Posts

There is no way I will get a minute of sleep tonight! I am really excited but plenty of other thoughts are racing thru my mind. I keep looking at my little girl and wanting to cry imagining this could (remote chance, I know) be my last day with her. I have been really teary all day today. Honestly, that is my only concern.

So, if there are any praying people out there who have a spare moment I would really appreciate any prayers!

I will post tomorrow. Thanks for everything!

Hi there! I will definitely be praying for you. I was banded yesterday and believe me the worry is 10x worse than the surgery. The thoughts you are having are completely normal. I thouht the same thing as I left my house yesterday morning. I have also had a hysterectomy and knee surgery and I had those same thought prior to going in for surgery. Those are just normal feelings. So far, I have no pain at all from my incisions. The only pain that I have experienced is from the gas, which from reading everyone else's posts, is normal. I can't wait to hear from you after surgery. God bless you.

I want to wish you a smooth and successful surgery! I just said a prayer for you...

I know about stressing out before the surgery! So many 'what if's' that go thru out minds... but you will be just fine!

The anxiety is worse than the surgery... and you will be wishing you'd done this a long time ago in about a month!

I had surgery in May and have lost over 60 pounds.. feeling great and wearing 'normal' size clothes.. it's a great feeling walking into a department store and going to the regular sizes to shop... wish I'd don't this years ago!

Wishing you the best! Hugs to you! God bless!!!

:)

i thought i was the only one who worried about that. lol i said my 'goodbyes' and told my sons how proud i was of them and how much they meant to me. they were like..mom you are going to be FINE...but hey you never know.. lol

the worrying is more than the actual surgery! I will pray that everything comes out hunky dory and i'm looking forward to hearing from you tomorrow or the next day!

God bless!

Praying for you JB! He's got you in His Hands :w00t: It will be over before you know it and like the others said you will wonder why you were so anxious and worried! Now mind you, I have not had the surgery yet (Nov 8th is my date) and I know I'll be a lil anxious at least! But, I too have had other surgeries including a thyroidectomy and neck dissection for lymph nodes... and gallbladder which the bariatric surgeon said is actually very similar to this laproscopically.

Sooooo, sorry couldn't spared you my complete medical history :) but in a nutshell, take a deep breath and think of all that lies ahead on the journey!

Looking forward to your next post... God bless!

Susan

Well, I am banded! Thanks for all of your prayers!

So far there is very little site pain but OH MY the gas pain. I have had other lap surgerys & the gas pain never came close to this.

I am just happy 1) i woke up from surgery:) and 2) I fought thru all of the fears and went thru with it.

I will post more later, thanks again!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
