Hi everyone,

How are all the April people feeling now that it has been six months.

I am feeling great. I have lost 64 pounds and have found a lot more energy.

Still exercising - and trying to eat healthy foods like I should.

Have lost 50 since 04/22/10...50 more to go. But, I'll admit it's been real slow losing for me. On medical scooter...so can't exercise much. Since my 3rd fill...have .5cc in 10cc band, have had terrible reflux. Been sleeping upright position in my recliner every night...which doesn't rest your body & back as well as my bed. I'm also diabetic (on 2 insulines) but have cut doses in half...and off half my maintenance meds was on before. I like my band most days...I feel & look alot better....but it's been a huge learning curve for me. What's bothering me so bad right now is the GERD. On Nexium & have tried Prilosec, Pepcid AC & Rantidine. I have gastroparesis (nerve damage in stomach) due to 25+ yrs diabetes...so that slows down the food digestion alot. Nurse thinks I should get an unfill...but soooo afraid of gaining weight back...since it's come off so slow anyway. What do ya'll think? :sneaky:

I see the doc again in 2 weeks.

I would get a small un-fill.

It doesn't necessarily mean you will gain weight. This journey is not about feeling bad, it is about losing weight and being able to live a full life with the band.

Wow! What a difference 6 months makes in how I feel. I have lost 76 pounds since April 13 and gained lots of energy. I would like to loose 35 more. I am so happy that I have my band to help me out.

Keep up the great work all,

Stagegirl

Great job everyone. I'm really proud of you all. I have only lost about 20 lbs since April with the band. I had lost 30 prior to the band. I'm kinda down about it, but reading here about everyone's success is helping. My surgeon assures me that its working for me. I guess we will see. I just found where he thinks I need to be my last fill. I'm not so sure, but its definately closer.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
