spoiltmom 44 Posted October 19, 2010 I've always had stomach problems so I've been told to get 30 to 35 grams a day. Here's the stupid question part... Will that interfere with my band? What I mean is I was told Fiber swells in your stomach so it won't irritate my band or anything will it? :cursing:
samomom 19 Posted October 19, 2010 I think the recommendation for everyone is only 25 grams a day. If you can't eat it then buy some Benefiber and add it to your food. It's great because it is a soluble Fiber which gels in your stomach but doesn't expand and it is the kind of fiber that absorbs cholesterol so that your body doesn't. It has no taste or grit. a teaspoon in some Water, apple sauce, or whatever you are cooking will give you about 5-6 grams. Do that twice a day and your body will thank you. Jachut 487 Posted October 20, 2010 Its not so much a matter of it irritating your band, its getting the food down that provides the fibre - fruit, vegies and wholegrains. Even with eating those foods, something like benefibre is a good idea.
ElfiePoo 109 Posted October 20, 2010 In my first bottle of Water for the day (since I tend to drink that one more quickly than the rest), I put a packet of benefiber. It's clear and dissolves completely so I don't even know it's there. I started doing that when I reached the point of too full where I couldn't eat my vegies at all. . BetsyB 9 Posted October 20, 2010 I add FiberSure to a drink each day. The inulin fiber has lots of benefits, including helping to regulate blood sugar.
Humming Bird 275 Posted October 20, 2010 I don't count grams of anything, but I have found that eating a vitafusion fiber Gummy every day helps me.
