Dunatl 0 Posted December 18, 2005 I was banded on October 21st and every thing was going super. Lost 42 pounds, scheduled to go for my first fill on Jan 6th, was able to eat anything. Then Friday night, I had a pork chop and I while I was eating it, a piece got stuck. Since then, I can drink liquids but I have a hard time keeping anything hard down without PBing. I figure one of three circumstances has occurred. 1. There is still blockage from the meat.< /span> 2. The area around the band has swollen 3. My band has slipped. Any thoughts or suggestions? Also, if my band has slipped how can I or the doctor tell and what is the procedure for correcting the problem when a patient has yet to get their first fill? Anyone who has gone through a similar experience, your thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thinkthin 0 Posted December 19, 2005 My doctor gave me an "anti-blockage recipe" (I have the exact recipe at home, so this isn't exact, I'd have to get it for you). Nonetheless, you take powdered meat tenderizer and mix it with a little bit of lemon juice and put that into a glass of Water. Sip on it slowly for a while. I'm sure the pork chop has gone through by now or you wouldn't be able to drink normally, but I bet you have swelling. The doctor can have a look at your band with an X-ray to see how things look in there. Stick with mushy/liquids for a couple days then try really soft, well-chewed food. I can't ever imagine eating a pork chop again! Good luck.
Alexandra 55 Posted December 19, 2005 Excellent advice. I had a similar problem with meat over the summer, and I finally had an unfill to resolve it. But that probably wasn't necessary, since two days before the unfill the situation had started to resolve on its own. BABY THAT SYSTEM until you feel better. Stick with soft foods and lots of thin fluids. In a few days I'll bet you'll be feeling much better. Good luck!!
