Had surgery 5 days ago

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone

I am thrilled to see a site where I can learn from others, receive inspiration and may even be able to help someone else eventually.

Day 5, I still burp and wind like a sailor and cannot poop.

My husband commenced on the Protein shakes with me about three weeks before surgery and he has lost 5kg and is continuing his journey. He is very lucky and seems not to mind the restrictions.

Can anyone share with me any nutritious recipes for the first two weeks on fluids that we can both eat and enjoy. I am absolutely determined not to undermine the LapBand and want to only eat food that will sustain not kill me.

Thanks for listening and I hope to read some interesting replies.

Hey!

We are Band Twins haha, I was banded also on the 14th Oct. In Brissy. Congrats by the way.

Im Just starting to get a little hungry now...well today. Ive mainly been having Up and Go's (1/4 of them) Tomato Soup, chicken Soup etc as had NO appetite until today.

So, Today I went and got stuff to make a sweet potato soup which was super yummy. Much like a pumpkin soup...just with sweet pot - Obviously had to Water it down a fair bit so not too thick.

My Dr has a 3 week Fluid stage post op - He says and I quote "If it doesnt fit up a thick straw, dont eat it"

He recommends Veg and meat stews pureed - Sounds great huh? I Guess ill get to that in a few days when ive finished my current batch of soup.

Theres a book called Knife, Fork and Band that you can buy and theres a free sample online to download that has some ideas.

I googled lap band recipes to find the sweet pot one.

Good luck with your journey and I hope to keep getting up dates on your progress.

Mish. Aussie Aussie Aussie.:(

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
