worried about getting enough restriction

Recommended Posts

:confused:Hi,

I have an 11cc band and have just got another fill which now comes to 10 cc. I can still eat almost as much food as before the fill. With only 1cc left, I am worried that I will not get enough restriction from the lap band.

I have read on here that the band actually holds more Fluid than what it is labled at. I am not sure if this is true. I would talk to your doc. about it. Hope you find restriction soon!

Yes, there is capacity for more than the 11 cc. BUT, you might be surprised at how, toward the end, even the tiniest of fills can make a huge difference.

Thanks for posting, I myself am worried:sad: I also have a 11cc band and I'm at 9 1/2cc and I am able to eat anything also, from any kind of bread, chicken, steak etc. I'm so worried. Please let me know how it goes for you. I was banded 7/2/10 and have lost only 26pds. I'm so disappointed with the band at the moment....

I've got 10cc band and currently am at my sweet spot and happy @9.75cc... while at 9.5cc.. I had no restriction at all, could eat almost everything (not that I did :-) and as much as my "head hunger" might've made me to :-). So plug away... you should be fine.

Hang in there...as someone already said, you may be reaching the point where even the tiniest amount will give you instant restriction. Prior to becoming overfilled and having some Fluid taken out (now working back up to restriction), I went from no restriction to being not able to eat anything but sliders with just .5cc.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
