I had my surgery almost a year ago, I am down 86lbs and for the last week I have been having terrible heartburn. Anyone else have this problem, any suggestions?

I had heartburn for over 10 years prior to my surgery. I've tried the max dose of Prilosec, Prevacid, Nexium, etc. and still had breakthrough acid. Since my band surgery almost 4 months ago I have cut my dosage by more than half. It's been WAY better. I hope yours goes away soon!

Heartburn can be a sign of being overfilled - have you had a fill recently?

It can be serious, but I know I have it and after I had an upper GI to make sure everything was OK the Dr. just prescribed a daily nexium. It works well for me.

I hope you find some relief soon.

Yup, it's a sign you're too full - or, if you've been at your sweet spot, that you're stressed out and something's tightening up your band for you. I'm at heartburn round #3 after the third time of being filled up to 9.0cc. I've been bouncing from 8.5cc to 9.5cc since the end of May - we finally took me back to 9.0 from 8.5 last Wednesday, three days later? Heartburn returned. Seriously. It's getting old.

I've been using various remedies, but the QUICKEST and most EFFICIENT remedy? Unfill. Even a 0.5cc unfill makes a complete, 180 degree difference :cursing:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
