Well Folks I did it. I was banded on 13 Oct, it went really smooth. I was in overnight, just something my dr requires. I had hardly any pain. I told everybody it felt like I had done 200 sit-ups. I did take Loratab the first night to sleep, just in case, but really didn't need it. Was released from the hosp the next day. They won't give any thing stronger then Tylenol, because I was going back to work on Monday. It's ok thought the pain and gas wasn't bad. Have been walking the around block at least twice a day. I've lost 10lbs so far. I think I might have had a little Jello stuck the first night home (does if feel like somrthing is stuck in your throat?) Other than that no real problems. I was extremely nervous when I was waiting to go in to surgery. To those who haven't been banded yet. Good luck. I'm back at work today still a little sore and uncomfortable, but happy.

Congrats! I was banded on October 15 and the only real discomfort I've had is gas. Otherwise, I feel really good. Still a little sore today, but getting better everyday.

Yea! You're on your way to a new you! I didn't think the surgery was all that bad either. The first time I had it the shoulder pain lasted a long time, but the second time I sailed right through without any at all. Soon you guys will be packing up huge bags of clothing for goodwill, because you need new smaller stuff. I know, I went from a 22 to a 6 and so can you!

Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
