Snacking is NOT Good

Recommended Posts

Dang gum it !!!

Normally I don't eat after 7 pm b/c I go to bed at 8 and it just doesn't feel good sitting in my chest when I'm laying down and its to close to dinner.

Anyway, I decided to let myself have some Snacks tonight. I had a few crackers (okay alot of cheese crackers), a handfull of M&M's and let me just say it was the WRONG thing to do.

My chest didn't hurt, I didn't pb but my left side felt like it had a knife in it. I had to walk around like crazy and about 1 hour later I sounded worse than a room full of drunken sailors. I bet I came close to the world record with those burps. I feel better but what has me baffled is why would my side hurt? Strange eh.

Lesson learned and hopefully NOT repeated.

Poor thing, you sound as if you were very miserable, glad it passed though and you're all the wiser about late snacking. We all have to push the envelope occassionally, I know I am very stubborn myself that way. Then that wonderful little darling inside of us, our band, reminds us that what we are doing isn't such a really good idea.

Take care and watch those crackers, they pack a wollup sometimes.

Cindy

Was it like a stitch? You probably irritated your diaphragm somehow. That was the only thing I got as a result of the gas - a stitch in my left side.

Oh, I was so bad the other night after my Red Hatters meeting. One of the ladies gave us a bag of home mix, rice chix, pretzels, M&Ms, peanuts, and choc covered nuts, all mixed up with white fudge drizzled all over it, OMGsh, I ate it all, every bit, saved none, and wanted more! Oink, oink!

My left side always hurts if I eat too much or too fast - especially when I lay down (keep in mind I have no fill so I can still eat 'too much').

Isn't it strange. It doesn't feel like the stomach because the pain is on the left side by your waist.

Loopy I don't have fill either, I'm scheduled for one in January. Can't wait b/c I can eat alot (just not at night LOL).

Pat I hear you only to well on the goodies OINK :)

Jachut, no, not like a stitch, it was on my side, like if you put your hands on your waist at your sides, right where you curve in... ouch.

Cindy your not kidding that was a reminder. It hurt to sit so I had to walk around. Stupid me will probably do it again but dang, I'm gonna try not to. HUGS !!!

Thanks everyone :)

If I eat too much, my left side will hurt, but that is where my port is, so I figured it was just the pressure of the food in the abdomen pushes on the abdominal wall where the port is stiched in place....it seemed to make sense to me. LOL! Just a made-up theory.

Sorry to hear about your ouchies. I know it's never fun to feel pain, especially when you don't understand why you're feeling it.

Hoping you feel better now.

Okay so if we all hurt than what the *heck* is it ?

I'll ask my doc on January 6th but the suspense is killing me. If anyone goes before me please ask lol.

Betty, I was kinda getting worried b/c my port is by my bra line and there's no incision where it hurts. I'm glad I'm not the only one too LOL.

Thanks Girls :)

GEE MARGO !! 33 inches gone??????? GOOD JOB LADY ***HUGS***

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
