PLEASE HELP ME, Is This Normal?

Recommended Posts

hi! I just had my one month bandiversay on the 13th, & my first fill is on the 26th of this month.

Ok well I have noticed that every morning i wake up with port pain, it hurts to the point wr i have to wait it out becuase im scared to move/get off the bed... Is it normal to still get port pain after a month post op?

:)

Please call your surgeon ASAP. Even if it is nothing bad, he can prescribe some pain killers.

I had no pain but from what I've read here, most have no pain after a week, 2 at the most.

My port had really nagging pain--at 8 months out, I still get twinges.

Do call your doctor for peace of mind. But I wouldn't be hugely alarmed.

I'm a month out and still cannot even think of rolling onto my stomach because of port pain. I can FINALLY sleep on both sides, though I sometimes will get a twinge from my port in the readjusting.

My doctor did not seem concerned by this though it was certainly not usual-- he had me in for a fill at two weeks post op (the normal time for his patients), but since I had the port pain issue-- not even side sleeping at that point-- he didn't give me a fill and put me off until next week.

If mine were as bad as you're describing, I'd definitely call though. Are you stomach sleeping?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
