zeniada 9 Posted October 15, 2010 Has anyone got lactose intolerant AFTER the band? I was able to eat and drink dairy products before I was banded but now cheese, yogurt and milk really upset my tummy. Is it common for that to happen? I think I may have read about this before on LBT... 04948749-FFAB-E84C-90A7-1D94AFDDA05E 1.03.
BostonPA 0 Posted October 15, 2010 I was intolerant before the band, but since the band it seems to have gotten worse. Maybe it's because I've been on liquids for 3 weeks and all my Protein comes from dairy? I don't know, but I have to take Lactaid pills with any dairy now. TRANAM1955 1 Posted October 16, 2010 Hi, I think I have been lactose intolerant most of my life, but after being banded for nearly 4 years, I think it has become more uncomfortable. I seem to run a slight fever if I eat a lot of dairy product. I think the milk product aggravates or inflames my stomach area. Gas is still very offensive but I can't seem to digest it. I used to eat a lot of cheese for Protein, but now have to lay off dairy unless I plan on being off a day or two. I am going to speak to my medical doctor about this because it has taken me a couple of years to figure out what makes me run a slight fever. Since I quit eating the dairy as much, I do not run a fever. Kinda' odd, huh? I have lost 116 pounds and below goal weight. The lap band saved my life. mrsbure 0 Posted October 16, 2010 I have a friend that became lactose intolerant after a gastric bypass. Not sure if it is a WLS thing.....
