suki 0 Posted December 17, 2005 welp, just got home, what a looooong trip. i am so glad to be home. me and mom stayed an extra day just in case there were any problems, in fact, that idea was more geared towards her. her being older, much more overweight and diabetic i was worried about her having problems. welp, of course SHE BREEZES right thru it. it's like she didn't even have surgery. no pain, no gas, no soreness, no hunger, restriction right away....and here i am, younger, lightweight no health problems and there i was on the other bed dry heaving with unbelievable nausea, sooo sore, STARVING, gas to DIE for. in fact, i'm still suffering with the gas!! ughhhhhh! seriously, not to be over dramatic here, but i think i had all the complaints that are usually spoken of. the nausea and dry heaving were so excessive that i was worried that i might of already made my band slip. i called dr.martinez's cell phone from the hotel cos i was so sore, miserable and worried. he agreed to go ahead and do a barium swallow that day to put my mind at ease that my band was ok, which it was, thank goodness. all that finally calmed down and now there's just a little soreness and killer gas left...bleckkk. not mom, she's over there with her little sips going, "my goodness, i can't believe i'm already full!" and i'm going, "what i would do with a bigmac right now*grumble*" anyhoos, overall tho, it was not a bad experience. dr.ortiz and dr.martinez are SUPER nice men, very attentive and their staff was super nice too. looking back something funny but the poor nurses prolly thought i was loco....i have a navel piercing and i knew i would have to remove it before surgery. they tend to close up super fast so i programed it in my head that the minute i got back from the surgery suite i would put it back in right away! so, before they take me back they gave me something in my IV to start making me groggy so i was wayyyy too loopy to focus and was unable to get the piercing out. i don't know who took it out but later found out that whoever did gave it to my mom to hold. anyhoos, so when my eyes opened, i'm still laying on the surgery table and i'm as loopy as i could be and i start yelling err uhh SLURRING over and over again in a panic, "senorita!!! per favore!! my piercing!! senorita ayúdeme!!" my arms are flailing and pointing to my navel! SNORT! OMG they prolly wanted to knock me out again. i draw another blank from there, apparently my mom put the piercing back in when i got back in my room. ohh the DRAMA heeheeheehahahahohoho! chichigirl 1 Posted December 18, 2005 Thanks so much for the update. Really glad your Mom is doing so great, sorry to hear you on the other hand are suffering, but it will pass before you know it. I wouldn't even think about a Big Mac for awhile, I know, you're just hungry as all get out right now, so it sounds good, but trust me, it would never go through and the last thing I'm sure you want is the vomitting to resume. Have you tried taking the recommened Gas-X? I didn't have that problem either, but more people than not have here and they highly recommend that and lots of walking. Those are the very best things to get rid of the gas. I responded to your previous post when you were leaving for the surgery. I sent you the name and address and phone number of the doctor in Miami that I go to that I know does fills for patient's banded in Mexico. Sorry it took so long to get you the information. If you can't find it, let me know and I will give it to you again. Feel better, at least your Mom can still take care of you:-] I wish you both the very best on your new journies and hope to see you posting again really soon. Happy Holidays Cindy

suki 0 Posted December 18, 2005 hey chichi! yes, thank you for the info! we plan on going to our first couple fills back to mx but after that we'll prolly be ready to find something closer. i've taken gasx like crazy and i don't think it really helps that much. i've noticed that my left side hurts the most, sharp pains but i'm just waiting it out. i know it'll pass, it's just the waiting. i've read alot that peeps burp alot after being banded but i've noticed for me, however, that i can't burp! it's like i can take the air/gas in but i can't expel it, it won't come back up! so i think i'm making the gas problem worse everytime my body tries to burp but it's totally involuntary, it's so aggrivating:(
fiveholts714 0 Posted December 18, 2005 Congrats. I plan on being banded in January and really appreciate the first hand news of your experience. Congrats to your mom, too.

suki 0 Posted December 20, 2005 thank you everyone for the well wishes! the gas pains are starting to subside with the exception of NOT being able to BURP!! it's soooo frustrating!! and it hurts! i can still only get the initial inhale/hiccup part of it and no expelling, it hurts right in the center of my chest everytime it happens. anyone else have this problem? i think i'm the only one who CANT burp.
