Hi everyone! Thanks for the warm welcome. I am three days out from my surgery and feeling better. I went to work today for about 5 hours and it was ok but I was about to collapse when I came home!

Is there another get together already set up? I definitely want to try and make it.

Is that a Sunday? or a Saturday? I don't know, we could try the bowling thing...or the coffee house thing...whatever you think would be fun. Maybe we should set goals to meet by the next meeting or choose topics or something to talk about...just an idea. I'm excited to see all of you again in the new year - 2006! Where does the time go? And Ann, so glad you're here and doing well 3 days out, it gets better everyday. Take it easy, don't push yourself too hard, and we'll see you in January!

Thanks girl, well I have been slacking but I am under a lot of emotional drama and stress right now - I'll tell all of you about it in another post, or at the next meeting. As far as exercising, I am just trying to do little things - stairs instead of elevator, parking far away - eating is good as far as no carbonation, and I am trying to eat better, I am doing ok, I just need to step it up. I still am taking my blood pressure medicine, I'm going to the doctor in a couple months for a check, meanwhile I check it regularly, and it's ok on meds...if I lose more weight maybe he'll take me off for a trial period. Brething is definitely better, along with back pain. It's just hard right now because I've always been an emotional eater, and noe I have turned into an emotional shopper. Good for the stores, bad for my bank account :) Anyway, thanks for letting me know someone's thinking about me and checkin up on me - I will try to do better!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
