Anybody using the Bodybugg?

Recommended Posts

I read that some other Bandsters were using the Bodybugg, it looks interesting but wanted to see if anyone is using it before I buy it. Anything to help will be great!

BUY IT!!

It is worth every penny!

I attribute a lot of my weight loss to it. Counting calories never made sense until I could actually compare the calories I was consuming to those I was burning.

* Note: I am a geek and love numbers. That may have been a deciding factor.

What is a body bugg?

It's an armband you wear all of the time and it calculates how many calories you are burning. It's pretty damn accurate too.

where do you get a body bug?

You can order the Body Bugg online or at 24 hour fitness. Amazon carries it or you can buy it directly from apex fitness online. It is not cheap but looks like it might be another great tool to help lose weight!

Anyone know the difference between a Bodybugg and the BodyMedia Fit? They're made by the same people, I think.

costco.com has what appears to be a great deal on the Fit model: Costco - BodyMedia® FIT Lifestyle and Calorie Management System

I'm interested in getting something like this, but want the most bang for the buck. What do you think?

I bought one from costco.com. It arrived today. Looks pretty cool! It comes with a year's subscription to the website, but I don't want to set it up till I get closer to surgery day, so I don't waste that subscription.

Anyone have any tips to share about how to get the most from it?

Dave

Hey there,

I use the BodyBugg, and love it! I bought mine from QVC, it came with a watch, so that you can see through-out the day the number of calories you have burned, I love that I can see how many steps I have taken. I try for 10,000 each day; it has truly been worth the money.

I had one a couple of years ago. It worked but it seemed to run a little high. I was eating 1000 calories fewer than I was burning but didn't lose weight anywhere near the 3500cal/lb rate.

The online software for tracking the food consumed was difficult to use, very klunky. It may have improved in the last two years.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
