2 weeks post op-what were you eating?

I am starving. i feel like i graze all day. i know i am not suppose to but i'm trying to not chew my arm off. I was wondering what are some meals for this stage?

Hey!

We got the surgery the same day!

I flubbed over the past weekend and was suprised to see I could tolerate "normal" food fairly well. HOWEVER, I'm back on track. I get to start eating soft Protein starting tmrw. What I was told by my nurtionist is to eat a serving size portion of either of the following throughout the day:

high Protein greek yogurt

a cheese stick [doesn't matter what kind] wrapped up in a lean chicken or turkey breast lunch meat slice = at least 14 gram of protein.

1 Egg White or Hard/Soft boiled Egg

1/4 cup low fat cottage cheese [7 grams of protein]

1 can of chopped chicken breast with 1 tbs of light mayo

thos are just some ideas....

Meee toooo BabyK. I am suppose to be on liquids the first 2 weeks and then mushies for two weeks. I was either gonna die or kill someone. I was so cranky. So I put myself on mushies... But isnt everything mushy when you chew it to death?

So I was bad today. I had chili for lunch whitch is pretty soupy but for dinner I had 3 chicken nuggets and some french fries... I mean i chewed them to hell and I had no problem with them going down at all!!!!

I feel bad but I also feel that all they want us to eat is low carb. I was on a low carb diet for 5 years and stayed at 123. But after I got married and kids the weight all came back. I dont have time for that. But what I am saying is, if I wanted to be on low carb I could have went on a low carb diet and now paid out of pocket! I need Portion Control which I feel I have!!!

So I have been eating mashed potatoes, Soups, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, yogurt, cottage cheese.

I really want a cheese burger or fajitas!!!!

I am two weeks post op today. I have been eating hard boiled eggs, sliced turkey, tuna, sesame tofu sticks from Whole Foods deli, Morningstar Farms veggie chicken patty, cheese (Laughing Cow, Havarti, Cheddar), hummus, and shakes.

I have been doing a lot of shopping at Whole Foods lately for a variety of reasons. Mainly because it's preservative free and mostly organic which is really important to me because I'm am eating so much less so every bit that passes my lips is super important. You can find a lot of tofu and soy based foods that will change up the borning line up of regular foods. Check out the deli section. They have some great tuna and chicken salads, tofu and other veggie Protein salads and meatloafs(turkey, beef and vegan).

If you like Indian food, paneer is a cubed cheese is a really yummy sauce that is a little higher on the fat, but huge on flavor and good Protein. I bought three packets at Whole Foods. It's easy to microwave. I'm also making chicken curry with breast meat and slow cooking it so the meat is really tender. It will be hard to eat without my beloved basmati rice, but I can do it. You can cook any kind of chicken in your favorite sauce in a crock pot or on the stove with some veggies. It will be tender and easy on the stomach.

The next thing I want to try is some filet mignon. I know, expensive, but worth it. I buy it at costco and it's $5.99 a pound which is cheap! I think next week I'll make my favorite Vietnamese dish called Shaking Beef. It is super tender because it is sliced really thin and stir fried. If you need a good Asian food fix, google Shaking Beef for a super awesome dish.

I think that a good pulled pork and beef brisket would be gentle on the stomach as well. I may try some next week once I'm back in the swing of eating.

My doctor had me back on regular foods by 14 days postop so I could eat anything.

At fourteen days I was able to have ricotta cheese, cottage cheese (non/low fat chive and pineapple), greek yoghurt with fruit but blendered, scrambled eggs. This period is about healing not about can you eat something. Yes the post surgery diet sucks but it's four weeks. It took us a long time to get where we are and it will take you a couple weeks to recover from surgery.

I am now two weeks post op and just started with the mushies in the last couple of days.

I am still starting my day off with a Protein shake. I think it helps me to control any hunger pangs I might get before lunchtime.

I've been able to tolerate most Soups, but only in small quantities. I tried some homemade mac and cheese and that did okay for me, but I should have stopped about to two spoons before I actually did. Sometimes it feels like there is a rock sitting right between my breasts in my chest.

Cottage cheese with a little salt and pepper is very filling, as is the Yoplait 100 calorie yogurts. If I am still hungry or just want to eat, I either have a sugar free popsicle or sugar free Jello.

I've printed out several crock pot recipes that I'd like to try this week, but I'm really just scared to eat. It feels like the band is stopping me from eating too much, but since I haven't had a fill yet, I wonder how much of it is real and how much of it is just in my head.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
