New Here and Just Banded

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

I'm new here and was just banded yesterday the 11th of October. Hoping I get get a lot of useful info and support from this great forum.

I was banded yesterday at 8am and released at 1:45pm. Everything went well and so far I haven't experienced much pain at all (knock on wood).

I got banded on Oct 4. The first few days were rough for me because I couldn't get comfortable! Now Im doing pretty good... I just have the itches! My incision is starting to heal and it itches like crazy. My post op apt is tomorrow. I have to wait a couple of weeks and then I can get the ok to exercise. Im also ready to be done with the soft foods/liquid diet. :smile2: Good luck and keep in touch... we are pretty close bandsters!

Welcome both and congrats! It may suck but stick to your doc's eating plan for you. Give your body and band time to heal.:smile2: Before you know it you'll be saying, "I remember when I went through that." Best of luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
