How to tell if something is wrong

Recommended Posts

I went camping for my birthday for a week and I'm really paranoid ive stretched my band. I ate a bit too much and snacked a lot. Although I haven't had any pain or symptoms. How can I tell if I've ruined my band? I haven't put on any weight but I didn't lose any either while I was camping. I'm seeing my doctor Friday but I can't afford any re-adjustments. I'm really worried do i go for an xray or something or can my doctor just tell?

Relax - I am sure your band is fine. It probably means you need an adjustment. Not sure why you say you can't afford one. In Australia they are covered by Medicare and you only end up with an out of pocket fee of around $20.

By re adjustment I mean another operation to fix it if it's stretched or slipped. Which Wouldn't I have to pay for all over again? I haven't gone for a topup yet my first one is Friday. It's not really that I ate too much it's more that I ate too fast and didn't chew enough. Thanks though you've calmed me done a bit lol.

Your fine.

You don't stretch your pouch by overeating one time. The pouch can stretch over time if you continue to abuse it and force yourself to eat more than you should.

If your band had slipped you would be in pain and know about it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
