Advice Needed - First date :)

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

So i am down 80 lbs and feeling great. And because I am looking great and feeling great, I guess man i beginning to notice me more. With that said, I am going on my first date this saturday. first date since my divorce and first date in about 12 years!

We are going to go to Chillis for dinner and i am so worried about eating there. Since I got the band, I really have been good about cooking at home and if i do go out, I usually go out with a family and friends. So if I get a stuck episode they know all about it and its not a problem. I just got another fill done last week so i am very tight still. Just today, I went out for sushi and had 2.5 pieces and I am done. So any advice on how to do this on the date? What to order? I don't want to tell him about the band yet (just bc its personal) but what do i tell him if he asks why did i eat two bites?

As i said before this is my first date in a very long time so i am already nervouse - I don't want eating portion of it to be an issue.

thank you everybody :)

Maybe try something easy for you to eat this one time--soup? Last time I was at Chili's I was rather tight, and they had a Soup and salad combo dinner that was easier for me.

Show lots of cleavage and talk about how much sex you want to have with him and he won't even notice what you're eating!!:lol: LOL (I'm a guy...what did you expect?!)

Just kidding. Soup sounds good. Or get an appetizer as an entree. Have some great conversation and I bet he'll never notice.

Good luck.

The chicken enchilada Soup is not too bad. If you have a few bites and your date questions why you didn't eat much just say it is very filling. Just pay attention to yourself while you're eating so you don't get stuck. I could see getting intrigued with somebody else and not paying attention and swallowing and getting stuck :-o no bueno! Have fun on your date <3

Soup and a sald or small appetizer? I often "treat" myself to a baked potato when out b/c it won't get stuck. I know not a great healthy choice, but once in a while is OK and goes down easy.

Let us know what you choose and how the date goes.

All of the responses so far are great! I would just like to add that whatever you eat, eat very, very slowly and concentrate on the conversation. That way he'll think you're "really" interested in what he's saying (and hopefully you are) AND you will kill some time over the course of the meal. Then when he's finished eating, you will have killed some time and not eaten as much. Hopefully he'll never notice the amount you've consumed.

Good Luck to you!!!!!

Again...something that will ensure that he won't focus on your food intake!! LMAO.:lol::)

Ok SORRY. I'll stop now. I don't mean to be rude or belittle your date. It's very cool that you are going on a date and getting back into the dating world. But I'm trying to make jokes to lessen your nervousness. Have a great time. Don't focus on the food.

Btw, does Chilli's have...chili? LOL. Sounds like a dumb question, but if they do, that could be a great alternative as well. Its hearty, high in Protein, and you could easily order a bowl of it and stop halfway through and say it filled you up.

ENJOY!!! :laugh::thumbup:

I get the chili there--it's pretty good, and goes down easily. No one ever raises an eyebrow when I don't finish

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
