December Bandsters (Early Xmas present)

Recommended Posts

My surgery is December 21!!! I can't wait. I've ordered Protein shake samples from the Vitalady. I have chocolate from newlifestyles.com now and they are alright. I love adding the Capella drops to flavor them - my favorites are mocha and caramel. Starting my pre-op diet after Thanksgiving.

Happy Banding!!!

I started this journey in January and hit a road block with the insurance company. I had to go through a six-month diet/nutrition program with my primary care doctor. I finally got my approval! I scheduled surgery today for December 3rd. I can't wait! Sooooo looking forward to a new me! I expect that the journey won't be easy but that it will be well worth it! :(

Yeah the shake thing has me all weasy...i have tried EAS, Slim fast, Atkins and they all taste like a Vitamin..LOL that makes me sick to my stomach...or left my mouth feeling gritty i know weird right...the Isopure Alpine Punch was drinkable but i couldnt drink the whole thing..im in deep doo doo come Dec 1 when i start my pre-op diet

The shakes in general are disgusting, but I think, adding some ice to them will help give it a different texture, which may be easier to digest.

I am excited that everyone has there date already. I have my last appointment with the nutrilst....in early December. Then my Doc can submit to insurance. I still have to convince my PCP to write the letter of approval before I can get my surgery date.

I tried the Bariatric Advantage sample that came in the mail today it was strawberry flavor and I could not drink it. I guess I will have to order samples from some other places and try them. Also I keeping hearing about and seeing people drink the Atkins or EAS ones, I might pick some of those up and try them.

For everyone who is still looking for a Protein shake, I'd like to heartily recommend checking out www.unjury.com. They have several flavors, and they taste really good, in my opinion. You can order samples very inexpensively, and try them before buying a bigger quantity. I'm definitely a fan.

So in reading this thread I'm seeing a lot of people who are doing a pre-op diet of Protein shakes. Is there a reason for that?

My nutritionist has me on a high Protein, low carb diet for this last three weeks pre-op. I won't move on to Protein Shakes till after surgery. From all I'm seeing, this is how my surgeon wants it for all his patients. Any idea why it's different, and is one way better than the other?

The point of weight loss prior to surgery is to shrink your liver. Each surgeon is a bit different in how and what they ask of their patients both pre and post-op. Wish I was able to eat!! LUCKY! My surgery date is Dec 3 also! Congrats!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
