Would you say cut some slack to a person who brought in alcohol when there was a recovering alcoholic in the house??

I'm not saying they can't eat it, there's plenty of places other than the house they can have it.... just don't bring it home.

sorry just had to comment i live with my fiance he is skinny can eat w.e he wants. Even though im not banded yet im not allowing any of this bad food in my mouth so yes the temptation is there when hes stuffing candy and sodas and all the delicious fatty foods down his face( i hate his metabolism)!!... either way i let him eat what he wants which is hard but to yell at someone is not nice and i feel is one of the issues people lose connections in a relationship is because we are more restrictive on what they eat too.

and also it is unrealistic to say they can eat these things at other places. Supportive yes Controlling no

sorry just had to say it i feel strong about this.

Not sure what to do this year about candy. I live in a very rural neighborhood with only like 8 kids. First two years I bought a box of full size candy bars from costco. I don't want to be that old witch on the corner! Last year NOBODY came. ZIP. Returned my unopened box to Costco. Last Easter I had a bag of Snickers on the counter that sat there for 3 months. I wanted to toss them figuring they were stale. My mother said "You are not throwing those away." She brought them to her church's fellowship hour. Not sure if they were stale or not!

LOL, okay "outside", what do you mean by your kids got "boo'd" and why do you have to buy more candy so your kids and "boo" other kids???? LOL I've never heard of this, but it sounds fun -- for the kids -- lots of candy to be bought. LOL

Please explain. :smile2:

To be boo'd is when a bag of candy and note mysteriously shows up at your front door (dropped off by a neighbor kid who sneaks up, knocks and then run away like their pants are on fire before you get to the door). Along with the bag of candy is a note explaining that you have been "boo'd" and you need to in turn "boo" three other friends. There is also a picture of a ghost to hang on your door to let other kids know that you have already been "boo'd".

I have been a little bad, I must confess. I had a couple of the mini candy bars on Friday, and Saturday then last night and today! I only had one or two but I really wanted more! I know I am getting ready to enter "that time of the month" which is the hardest time for me because I want to eat everything in site! I know I was bad for eating it, but I have been doing well, and I keep thinking I'll just have to walk an extra 1/2 mile tonight! I just have to remember that everyone has a time when they get off track, and before my surgery I wouldn't have rebounded. But now I am diffrent and I will get right back on that track! So for those of you who have "cheated" don't fret and freak out, get right back on that track and keep going!

OMG...Halloween candy sounds so good! I came home last night and a Reese's cup was staring me in the face, it took all my will-power to not just take one little bite. I didnt do it, but I am not going to lie, I was so pathetic, thats what I was thinking of when I went to sleep. But I didn't do it, I keep telling myself that I didn't go through the pain of this surgery just to ruin it. Although my nutritionist did say that once a week, a small treat won't hurt. Eventually I will treat myself to something, I am just to scared to do it now. I feel like an alcoholic...one day at a time.

I do the same thing.

There's lollies and junkfood stashed around the house now because I've asked everyone to hide theirs.

There's no shame in trying to help yourself.

We're lucky to live in Australia where it's not as big here. I turned the music in my living room up so I couldn't hear the door. I'm sure there was only a couple of them anyways.

1 King Size chocolate candy bar (Snickers, Hershey, etc.) 500 calories!!!

GEEZ LOL.

I wouldn't be able to eat any of that stuff - it'd send me into a sugar craving spiral of doom.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
