Im in the same boat. I injured my back & after a Toradol injection and muscle relaxants, anti-inflmmatory drugs felt no releif so I broke down and started taking steroids. Medrol which is a 6 day treatment starting off at 6 pills a day down to 1. I was at 202lbs on Wed & this morning at 207.8 :) I knew to expect the weight gain & I also get really hungry...ravenous is a better word. . I was in so much pain that I didnt care. I was sooooo close to onderville but I know that it will come back off. They say it takes few weeks to get out of system. Dont get discouraged. This is life & we will face hurdles every now & then but I know I have the band & that the weight will come back off. Wishing you the best & hope you feel better soon.

Same here I got a steriod shot on Monday and by Wednesday I had gained 4lbs. Untill I read ur post I wouldn't have thought it was the steriod shot. I'm down to my normal weight today so I'm glad.

I have been on and off steroid shots and oral meds for the last couple of years.

You gain weight because it messes with your blood sugar levels and insulin levels. When too much insulin is released it make fat. Plus you are eating a little more because of sugar crashes caused by the steroids.

Can't get around this response with diet. Ya just gotta suffer and pray the damage isn't too bad.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
