karebare714 14 Posted October 10, 2010 I have been doing a alright on my own with cardio. I do 30 min of treadmill or ellyptical 5 days a week. But I feel like I need a push. I would like to work with a personal trainer for 30-60 min 3 days a week for at least a month. I dont think this is something I can afford though. I dont belong to a gym because we have a great workout center at my apartment complex. Has anyone had great results from working out with a trainer or should I stick with the cardio untill I get closer to my goal? I still have a lot to lose. Mimilou2004 13 Posted October 10, 2010 I cut back on many things to have a Personal Trainer (PT) and I have NO regrets. Starting sooner rather than later helps keep motivation strong. The weekly measuring and weigh ins helped keep me on the path to success. Now that I am at maintenance I am going to drop to twice a week with the PT and do my treadmill three times a week. I wish you well and hope you can find a PT as great as mine. Mimi
marykb 0 Posted October 10, 2010 I had a pt and it was really great to have someone show me different things to do. I was getting stuck in a rut and she showed me a lot of different weight lifting routines, stretches, cardio, and general toning exercises. I had 8 30 minutes sessions with her and then work out on my own the rest of the time. I'm planning on getting another trainer in a couple of months to get some different routines and exercises. healthyhappyme2010 0 Posted October 11, 2010 Karebare714, do you have a Planet Fitness near you? I just joined, and they have offer free personal training sessions. You'd meet with a trainer and tell them your goal and they set up a plan and walk you through using the appropriate machines. It's not the typical one on one hand holding experience, but it's a pretty good deal. They're having a special right now, $10 down $10 a month (until Oct. 14th). I have a gym in my home, but I joined about 2 weeks ago because of the free PT and the ability to workout on my lunch hour. It's a pretty good deal for $10. I live in Philadelphia, but I imagine the special is at all locations.
Manda87 3 Posted October 14, 2010 I have a personal trainer! Getting him was the best thing I've ever done besides getting the band. Cardio is important, but also strength training just as important. They teach you how to work out. They don't come cheap, but they are well worth it.
