I was banded little over a year ago, with no real problems until recently. About 3 weeks ago I started having vomiting issues. Now its gotten to the point that not much stays down at all (liquids as well).

At times I can only drink or eat maybe 1/2 cup at a time and stay full for many hours. I'm having a hard time getting all the fluids I need to in a day. Sometimes food or liquids stay down for only 45 minutes to an hour then I'm vomiting again. I haven't had a fill since March so no change there. I can't get into my doctor for another 10 days and starting to get worried! Anyway know if this could be a symptoms of band slippage?

You are already doing the right thing. You need to see your doctor.

Here's what I would do until your appointment. I'd stick to liquids or at least mushies and let your stomach calm down. You can still drink, so you aren't going to get dehydrated or in serious danger. Just go very slowly and don't try anything difficult for at least a few days.

I don't know why this is happening to you and I know that is scary. I can tell you that over the last 9 months or so, I keep getting tighter, so it does happen. I don't have a slip. Last time, my doctor removed .3 cc and I was fine. I thinking about scheduling another unfill. I can tell the symptoms, now. I am just getting tighter little by little. I'm not throwing up much yet, but if I leave this go, I will be soon. My doctor has no explanation for this. He just says that it happens sometimes.

If you are getting worse over the weekend, I'd call the office again. 10 days is a long time to wait and I know that the office staff can often squeeze you in, if they know how bad things are.

It is pointless to try and second guess why you're having difficulties. If you were fine up until now and things changed suddenly, call your doctor. If you are not keeping liquids down, then call your doctor...NOW! Dehydration will only make things worse, not to mention you can create serious medical conditions...or death...from not being able to drink.

My .02...if I was doing fine and then all of a sudden started having the problems you are, I would be a bit leery about a doctor who would make me wait 10 days to see him and would be looking for a new one.

I would call your doctor and explain you need to be seen ASAP. Tell them it's an emergency (which I think it is). My doc. has come in on days he doesn't usually see patients (although he is nearby at the hospital) to do an unfill. Try to get as much Water in as possible, although it sounds like it's uncomfortable. I agree that liquids until you see your doc. is probably a good idea. Hope you feel better soon!

I agree with previous posters stay on liquids for now. I would even go so far as to keep it to Clear Liquids as much as possible. I also agree that you need to call your doctor back- if the front desk isn't listening ask for the nurse or medical assistant. Tell them you are vomiting and can't keep liquids down- if they don't get you in right away then look for another doctor ASAP. Also, if you begin to get dehydrated then go to the ER.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
