I just found out today that in my 5 year medical history I apparently didn't go to the Dr. in '06! I guess I was healthy that year!! Anyway, the office says that it may not qualify for the LAP-BAND® with my insurance company without having gone to the Dr. in '06.

In '01 I have records where I was put on Merida and I have records where I was put on blood pressure meds in '03...and have been on them ever since!

I need to know if anyone skipped a year in their 5 year med. history? I can go back several years, and have other qualifying issues so to speak, but just don't have anything on record for that one year.

Anybody get approval without one of the 5 years? Can you skip a year?

Thanks all!!

Sometimes they will take a dated picture in place of a doctor weigh in-- you might look to see if you have a picture from '06.

What about pharmacy refills for your meds during that year? There must be records to show you were on prescription meds during that time. Just because you didn't schedule an appointment with the doctor doesn't mean you weren't being treated.

I actually had collected five years of weight history, but in 2008 my BMI was below 35. I decided to just not submit that year and then if they wanted it later, then I would submit it. I figured once they knew something I couldn't take it back. I just found out that I was approved! They didn't even ask for that year. Maybe you could submit two weights from the same year. Anything could help, and most likely it shouldn't be that big of a deal. Just be creative and make a point to prove to them that you qualify. Good Luck! (By the way, I have BCBS Federal, basic).

Thanks, I hadn't thought of the pharmacy. I will check that angle tomorrow.

I think if the pharmacy doesn't have records, I will pick years 2001 and 2003 to add to '05, 07, 08, 09 and 10.

Thanks, I'm not ready to throw in the towel, by any means. When you finally get to the place where you are fed up with the weight and summon up the courage to make a surgery your decision... you sure don't want not going to the Dr. one year four years ago to get in the way!

thanks all.

Did you maybe go to obgyn or a walk in clinic and get a flu shot or something for that year? I had to use a gyn appt weigh in for 1 of my 5 years. They said they would submit it with a year skipped but it's better to have non interupted 5 years.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
