Special K Protein Shake

Recommended Posts

I'v tried several Protein shakes including the Isopure and they are disgusting. The Special K ones are the only ones I've found that I don't have to choke down. I don't think Special K shakes are "cheap imitations", they are only 190 calories and yes only 10gm Protein but shouldn't be your daily staple food anyway. Bottom line you have to find the one that is right for you. No one can or should drink things they don't like.

The Special Protein Drink mix (just add to bottle of water) is only 30 calories and gives you 5gr of protein. I have to drink Water anyway. I like the pink lemonade flavor, personally.

Where do you get PB2 and I like the carnation Breakfast sugar free with 1% milk I know its not a super big amount of protien per packet but it tasts like chocolate milk. Not to thick and weird texturey I tryed a sample I got in the mail don't remember the brand and it was like sludgey consistancy yuck. Any one know other brands that come out like the carnation breakfasts do??

You can order PB2 online from the Bell Plantation website. I just finished another amazing shake flavored with PB2. YUM.

As many people here will tell you, there are PLENTY more great tasting Protein shakes other than the Carnation that are higher in Protein. Also, I have stopped with regular milk altogether and now I only use Unsweetened vanilla Almond Milk. Its much less in calories than the 1% and it adds great flavor. Depending on the type of shake there are so many different things to add to them to make them taste sexy. And with the Syntha 6 shakes from GNC, I don't even need to add anything if I don't want to.

Thanks everyone for your input! I do agree that those special K one's are not as hard to get down. I do believe that I was given a packet of that sythac's nectar one when I went to see my dietician, however I think I made it wrong, lol it exploded when I went to shake it up! :) what can i say I am not the smartest one of the bunch! lol Does anyone know where I can get some samples? Oh and NJSizzla, what is PB2 ?

you can order Syntrax Nectar online.. I order from DAMUSCLE.com. best price I found

I also use PB2 in Protein shakes. I like the chocolate version better (add it to chocolate shakes). The product is not that expensive but the shipping is high. I ended up buying twice as much as I had planned on because the shipping was only like 3 dollars more for 8 bottles than it had been for 4. I gave a reg and a chocolate to my sister.

For ready to drink I second that Premier Brand at Cosco is pretty good high in Protein and low in calories. As for powder I buy it at Vitamin Shoppe which is MUCH better price wise than GNC.

In regards to Protein Powder I use Gold Standard Double Chocolate whey and Dymatize Gourmet vanilla.< /p>

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
