Insurance companies and tummy tucks

Recommended Posts

I have my first PS consult next Thursday and I was wondering if someone who has gone through this before can give me some pointers.

I know my insurance doesn't pay for plastic surgery but was told if medically needed they would. Now how do I make this happen? Give me some pointers. I have some pictures of sores and I have a history of having the sores is this enough?

If someone has had luck with getting ins. companies to pay let me know how you have.

Thanks

Jo:confused:

From what I understand from this forum, insurance will never cover a full Tummy Tuck.< /p>

What they will cover is a panniculectomy.< /p>

In order to have them cover this it will probably be an uphill battle. You should ask your doctor for a prescription for creams because of your rashes and make sure to have them filled. Take pictures also. I believe the skin needs to hang down a certain amount but I can't remember of hand how much that is.

Read the past threads in this forum. There is a lot of great information here.

Hi:

I had rashes and it was uncomfortable. My surgeon's office documented my rashes (including pictures) and the plastic surgeon's office did two. Between the two of them they did the magic paperwork (including the pictures) to have the panniculectomy approved for me by insurance. I opted to pay the additional cost to get a full Tummy Tuck. It was well worth it.

Best wishes to you.

Sue

I had Blue Cross Blue Shield of New England at that time, but have switched due to a job change since that time.

Good luck!

My insurance (BCBSMA) covers abdominoplasty (TT), I just received the letter from insurance last week approving the procedure.

I've had 4 consults, and will have another (and final) next week before making my decision on surgeons; 3 of 4 are out of the race - didn't care for the attitude of one, the other 2 need to update their website to reflect that they no longer take insurance.

It's amazing how they (PS) say what the insurance won't pay. My insurance will pay for the TT and lipectomy ("suction-assisted fat removal") - basically liposuction.< /p>

My insurance paid 100% for a breast reduction and TT after I had lost 120 pounds with the lap band. I went to the consult and the plastic surgeon took pictures and submitted it. It really depends on your insurance company and how well your plastic surgeon's office writes it up. If you don't have luck with one plastic surgeon, you should try one who will aggressively try to get your insurance to pay for it. The more documentation you have, the better, but I didn't have to provide anything. The plastic surgeon's office handled everything. Good luck!

What insurance do you have? And what plastic surgeon did you go to. I am looking to get a Tummy Tuck after loosing 150 lbs but cannot afford it with out a little help from the insurance.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
