Breast Aug - implant size? Advice and experience needed

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a little reassurance. I'm having a BA on the 28th Oct and have chosen my implant and have organsied everything but am starting to doubt my decision re the cup size I wish to achieve. I am starting to wonder if a 390cc teardrop implant was going to be too big for me.

I'm only 5'4" and weigh about 56-56kgs, and in US sizing, I'm about a size 2.

Is a D cup too big? Will I look huge? I was tossing up between the 345cc and the 390cc and my surgeon recommended going bigger. He said that in 20 years, he's never heard anyone regret going bigger, but has always had people regret going smaller.

But I'm me. I know that a anatomical (teardrop) shaped implant will look natural but I don't want to look too top heavy on a small frame. I don't want everyone looking at me like I'm boobs on legs!

Advice, reassurance, experiences welcome!!

I had BA surgery 15 yrs ago and at the time I was a sz 4. I am also 5'4. I have a c cup and am 100% happy with them. I have very close friends who still do not know. They look and feel natural.

Personally I would get something that would look NATURAL, like you were born with them. I wouldnt want to look like I had surgery. A "C' cup is the biggest believable size I would get if I were a size 2. I do not think its attractive when someone looks like "boobs on legs". My hubbys comment when he sees someone that looks like that is "She bought them too big!"

Something else you might want to consider is that when you are that small, clothes do not fit properly in the chest because women that small do not have breasts that big. A ffriend of mine has to buy larger dresses and have them altered to accomodate her boobs.

Ultimately the decision is yours and yours alone.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your advice Shelly! After I posted this afternoon, I called my surgeon's office and spoke to my surgeon again, and he said that while no one can really tell exactly what cup size i'll end up with, he thinks I will be a full C or a smaller D, but not a full D cup. If I go the size down, I'll likely be a small C.

That's reassured me a bit. I remember trying different implant sizes on in his offices and deciding initially on a 390cc. But I guess when I tried them on, I was so used to having my empty-sock boobs that they seemed really big on me.

Pre-weight loss I was a DD, almost an E, so a full C cup sounds good to me now. I have this impression that I'll look like boobs on legs, but I probably won't lol!

I had BA surgery (and a lift) 3 years ago this month. Of course I was 100 lbs thinner! I went w/a size D cup. I'm 5'4 but have a medium sized frame and they turned out great. I love them! But now I'm worried when I lose the 100 plus lbs if they'll sag!)

For me, erring on the side of being bigger was my prefence but my Dr. told me the same thing as yours that nobody ever wished they would have gone smaller. I have a friend who is quite petite and she only went up to a B cup but LOVES them. She wanted to err on the smaller side and she looks great & is very happy with them.

Good luck!

Thanks for sharing your experiences, SunD1! I hope that should you lose the weight, that it won't affect your breasts. I was lucky in that I don't have much sag, they're just empty of any sort of volume, so I don't need a lift, just the implants.

I guess if I end up a D, I end up a D - I'll live! I am pretty sure no guy I know is going to complain any! lol! Thinking about it today, I realise I'd be more disappointed if I ended up smaller than I expected, so I'll just have to take a punt and see how I go!

I had 550 Cc silicones put in, I made me a large D, sometimes a DD in certain bras. I am large frame and weigh about 175, they look very natural and fit me very well.

You will love your new girls. :-)

I had 550's put in when I was still over 200lbs and now I'm around the 150 mark they look really big. My daughter always says they're hugh (EEEEK) But of coarse the DH loves um. I just think it's a personal choice. I will add that when I went in I was getting 475's but during the surgery the Dr. decided they needed to be lager to fill them out. She's the pro so I guess she knew what she was doing. I myself Love them, They're the only firm thing on my body now lol

Kimaly,I ended up getting 390cc implants and 4 weeks in, they're a DD. They hang fairly naturally now and the people who know I have had surgery reckon they look natural and not too big at all (and the people who don't know don't stare - much - so I guess they must look natural). I'm fairly broad shouldered and I think that makes a difference.

My DH loves them but he thinks I could have gone a cup size up (men!) but I personally am finding it difficult already finding bras to fit (a 30DD isn't easy to find in regular shops here) and clothes shopping isn't always easy, for the reasons Shelley mentioned earlier. I sometimes do wonder if I might have gone slightly bigger but to be honest 99% of the time I'm happy with the way they look and feel, esp dressed, so I think in the end, they were the best choice for me. But I will admit to a bit of boob envy about the size of your implants. But considering I wanted a D cup and ended with a DD, I already got bigger breasts than I had counted on, so can't really complain, can i? lol

Well even with the 550's I'm about the same cup size as you, I'm still heavier then you and also broad so I'm wearing a 36 DD. Mine are behind the muscle, maybe that might make a difference on the cup size. Not really sure but I know I do not regret it.

Oh right! Because my implants are tear drop shaped, my surgeon opted to place them in front of the muscle to reduce the chances of them flipping. I don't know how this affects cup sizing but I do remember him saying that it didn't matter about the ccs, because someone could get fewer ccs and still end up a bigger cup size. That's why he couldn't with all honesty tell me exactly what cup size I'd end up. He just could tell me what size implant he thought suited me. And I think he was pretty spot on to be honest.

Though mind you, Kimaly, I reckon a DD in a 36 is bigger than a DD in a 30. I still have my old bras in a 38DD and the cups are waaaaaayyyyy bigger than the cups of my 30DDs.

Yeah, It;s hard for me to go by a cup size because they're behind the mucsle so I really don't get the projection. Shelf bras seem to work much better these days. A D is to small and if I wear a full coverage bra a DD leaves a little pinch room so I stick with a DD shelf, And what the hey they're always sexier then a full coverage anyway so I really don't mind LOL

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
