Bandaversay approaching & missing BREAD

Recommended Posts

It is almost a year since I was banded.. I am 58 pounds lighter.. Still CANNOT eat bread.. Will I EVER be able to have a sandwich for lunch or have a jalapeno hush puppy?

I tried a piece of (wheat) bread last week and thought I was going to die .. OMG -- the pain was horrible.

Now on to my second question.. I am developing a lot of loose wrinkly skin.. I'm wondering if it is to early to see about haviing "Belly Hang" surgically removed ..

ANYBODY??

If you need the bread to fill an emotional need, chew it and spit it out. You'll get the taste, texture and pleasure, but you won't have the pain. I totally understand how you can be frustrated with the lack of bread. I'm a carb addict!!! I know that I will have issues with the breads when I can eat real food again.

Have you tried toast? Seems that it goes down easier for a lot of people. Or maybe a wrap?

Also, I have heard that you should wait for at least a year reaching goal weigh to let things settle before you get plastic surgery. But I am so far from goal I haven't really begun looking into it.

I am thinking about sandwiches when we are out riding the four wheelers thru back country , and there is not a lot you can pack in a cooler that make for a nourishing lunch.. Fellow riders do not know I had surgery , so it makes it 2x as hard to pack something to eat.

You probably have tried bread in all shapes and forms, but here's my experience.

I can eat sandwiches and subs as long as there is about twice as much meat and veggies in the sandwich than bread. For me, the mixture keeps the bread from gumming up and getting stuck. I also do OK with toast. Bagels, tortillas and soft breads do not work at all.

I don't have advice on the bread, because I haven't tried it. But...

If you need the bread to fill an emotional need, chew it and spit it out.
Please don't do this. It is eating disordered behavior. Instead, try to find a bread you can tolerate. Lots of people like the bagel thins, when toasted, and find that they work well.

About the plastic surgery: most surgeons want their patients to be at their goal weights, or very close, before consultation; there's no way to give concrete answers about what to expect if they cannot see the "blank canvas" with which they will be working.

HOWEVER, it's not too early to start "shopping" for surgeons--interviewing them, discussing options, and so on.

ETA: It used to be that patients would be advised to wait 6-18 months after reaching their goal to have plastic surgery. It's not the general recommendation any longer; if there is excess skin, there is excess skin---there is no need to wait to remove it (and it ain't going anywhere on its own).

Congrats on your loss! I'd wait a while to have the surgery. Most surgeons here want you within 20 pounds of your goal weight before they do it otherwise you'll end up with flabby belly again once you reach your goal weight.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
