This sounds weird but I am 3 weeks post op and I almost feel like my stomach is now in my back. I am used to feeling hungry and that real full feeling as a stomach discomfort. Now it is feeling more like a back discomfort. When I take a too big a bit, dont chew enough etc.. I feel it in my back. I mentioned it to the nutritionist today (who has never had a lap band) and she had never heard of such a thing. Am I alone in this?

I was banded in Feb. and I have been experiencing the same thing! I have talked to everyone about it and have had several tests that come back normal. My NP tells me that she will find out what the problem is but nothing yet.

I know what you are talking about! I had the same exact pain. It went away on its own at about 5 weeks out. It was really bad pain in my back that almost felt like my band was around my spine or that my band was pushing on nerves in my back. It also felt like the weirdest and strongest hunger pains I have ever felt. This pain would wake me up at night. Once I started eating "normal" foods, it went away. Just remember to eat very slowly and chew really good.

I hope this goes away soon for you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
