Not feeling well

Recommended Posts

I feel just like a baby. All the post on here are so positive but not me.

I had my band put on 2 days ago and I am in pain and not happy at all. I can't even sip Water without burping constant and pain.

I feel week as anything and can't sleep hardley at all. I've coughed up a bunch of mucus this morning and am worried. I am a bad patient and a complainer but I feel like crap and can't stop shaking.

I stopped taking meds cause I think they are making me sick too.

Sorry for complaints, I just feel like a baby.

I think I'll try and eat some broth and see what happens even though water hurts any suggestions would be nice.

Tootarts, just take care of yourself. Everyone has a few bad days right after surgery, and I've heard lots of people say that days 2-4 are the worst. The anaesthesia is still working itself out of your system, and that can make you shaky or nauseated. I didn't have a clear head until the fourth day out, myself.

You WILL start to feel remarkably better in very short order. Just get lots of rest and try to keep sipping those fluids. Don't worry about calories or nutrients for these few days, you have plenty in reserve to keep you going. Just think about resting, sleeping, walking a little, and getting in plenty of fluids.

Read!! And doze, and read, and doze. We'll be here when you wake up.

I agree with Alex. My inital surgery for the band I bounced back from the Anasthesia but the second surgery for Gall Bladder took me quite a while for it to wear off.

Just hang in there it will get better..

Ok, do NOT feel bad about feeling bad. Right. I'll let you know I am the BIGGEST baby about pain and it seemed EVERYONE on this board was like "oh I was out running a marathon the next day". I was in absolute AGONY.

My sister....she came to take care of me.....she told me I was whiner than both her twin toddlers. And they are WHINY.

No worries about coughing up mucus. That is actually a GOOD thing. It's from being intubeated for the surgery and you HAVE to get that up. If it says in there you could get pneumonia so cough it out friend!!!

Remember the addage about pain meds. Make sure you are taking them BEFORE you are in pain. Stay ahead of it because once you get to a bad place it's hard to come back. And if you aren't taking your meds, by all means, TAKE THEM!!! Take the full dose. You heal better if you aren't in pain. It helps your mental outlook as well.

Expect to sleep a lot. Your body is healing.

And trust me...it gets SO much better. It took about a week for me until I felt I was going to live.

BIG HUGS FOR YOU!!!!! Fellow whiny babies unite!!!!!! I'm a baby and I'm proud of it!!!!!!

I was miserable and cried the 2nd day b/c of the pain. I'd say I was not in good shape until about the 4th day, it was then that I just started feeling better.

Just rest and take care of yourself.

My second day out I was crying to my husband, saying, "what did I do to myself?" Sorry to say it didn't go away any time soon, but it DID go away! We know it's hard and we're here for you. For us you aren't whining - you're just expressing your feelings. Hope you feel better soon.

So sorry that you are not feeling well. Alex is right, this really sounds like the aftermath of anesthesia, it effects us all differently.

The broth sounds like the best idea as it is somthing warm, which is very soothing to your healing stomach. I live on that stuff when I am sick, it has been a lifesaver for me. I also drink SF hotchocolate, that is also warm and soothing.

If you are whining, then we all are whiners when it comes to hurting and feeling lousy. No one tolerates that, I don't care who you are. The really good thing is it doens't last forever, though it may seem like it right now, but you will feel all that much better when it does past. Trust me I know.

Here's hoping this passes quickly for you and that after one of your glorious naps, you wake up and it is suddenly better for you.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Cindy

I hope you feel better soon! I know anesthesia turns me into a whiny baby; so I'm going to try to sleep it off when my time comes.

sleep sleep sleep. I really got out of it remarkably well and seriously just about could have run a marathon the next day. But then I'm the type of pain in the bum who also thinks giving birth to 10 pound babies with no drugs doesnt hurt much either.

I did of course have some pain though and on the first day it was quite a lot. But boy, everytime I had a good sleep I woke up feeling remarkably better. Sleep is very healing. Sleep and pain meds, keep up with them and take them before you need them.

Is there any chance you smoke? That may be the reason you are coughing up lots of junk. Sometimes that happens with smokers in operations. Just a thought. I hope you are up and around and feeling great before long. Hang in there. I imagine the first couple days are tough.

My Dr said the 2 and 3 day would be the worst as the general anesthesia would have worn off and I had to manage pain with wiquid hydrocodone. Stay on the Clear Liquids and Water. Drink lots of water. Coughing the mucus is normal and good to do otherwise you could develope pneumonia, It is also a reaction of the throat tube and anesthesia, you may see a little blood also. Dont be alarmed but you be the judge and call yo Dr.if you arent better soon. and NO you are not a crybaby.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
