Mishay36 0 Posted October 5, 2010 Yay! Surgery is over. I am stil in the hospital and will go home it a little while. I am one day post op. Surgery took an hour and a half and then I went to recovery for an hour and then came up to my room. I got up and walked around the floor a couple of times yesterday and walked. I had an IV, Catheter, Oxygen and a O2 monitor. THat was cumbersome but ok. I slept most of the time. (morphine) This morning I went down to radiology for a swallow study to see if there were any leaks in my band. There wasnt so I got to start sipping on Water. Then I got Jello and broth and for lunch I got a little cup of carnation instant Breakfast and a littl cup of creamy Soup (very diluted) It has all gone down well. I am sipping on my water. I met with the Bariatric surgery coordinator and the dietician came in to talk to me. I will go home soon. I have five port holes. One is more painful than the rest. It isnt the port one but just more tender. Wish me well. I will check in again soon..

tannie 0 Posted October 6, 2010 Thank you so much for posting your experience. I start my diet tomarrow and am getting nervous. I'll have 4 days to recover before going back to work kinda worried about it. What worrys the most from your post is the catheter. I have had major surgery twice and never had a catheter. Scary stuff:) I hope you have a very speedy recovery. Feel better soon:)

shitown 0 Posted October 6, 2010 I was banded on Sept 16th and feeling great and down 20lbs as of today. Mishay you are doing awesome. I suggest you keep walking around to get that gas moving. That was the worst for me. I only had one small incision about 1 1/2 inch and had no issues with that. Day 5 was the hardest for me as I got really week that day and could not go back to work as planned but was better the next. Stick in there and good luck:thumbup:
bayareanan 24 Posted October 6, 2010 Mishay, I had my surgery yesterday as well, but didnt have to spend the night. I slept most of the day due to the pain meds, which was totally find by me. I have almost no gas, so no gas pain. I am most happy about this. I am also able to consume the same amount of liquid that I did before surgery. I am trying to stretch out the hydrocodone by using tylenol in between doses with some success. Some people say day 3 is the worst, but I dont expect much more than I have had today. I was sure glad when it came out, didn't hurt a bit to come out but just cumbersome and annoying lugging it around with you!
