Alcohol Post Band

How long did you have to wait before consumming alcohol? I'm not looking to get drunk or drink anything fizzy, just a glass of wine or two at a wedding. Any input?

How far are you?

I think at about 3 weeks I could sip some wine and it was ok.

I'm two months in and alcohol goes down fine.

I haven't even had any problems with fizziness.

I'm 1 week post op and I have a wedding on the 23rd so I'll be just short of 4 weeks post op.

Oh, the you should be fine. Just take small sips at the beginning and see if it feels fine going down.

How are you feeling so far? Any troubles?

I'm doing pretty good, I returned to school yesterday and it wasn't bad at all. I started my full liquid stage today and so far so good. I'm still not feeling hungry but I'm being sure to get in the nutrition that I need between shakes and yogurt. I'm anxious for next week though, mushies seem to have more things to choose from

Yay! Good to hear you are doing good!

Yah I remember the first week I wasn't hungry at all. The second week I wasn't hungry either but was fine with the liquids. And then the third week I was annoyed with the the liquids...the 4th week I was just thinking "I give up let's just get this stupid Protein shake part over with."

I didn't do the mushies stage. My doctor has his patients do an extra week of liquids and then go to soft foods. So I got pretty sick of liquids.

Oh wow I don't think I could do 3 weeks of liquids, that's way too much for me. Just this second week of them is getting old already and I still have another 5 days!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
