There's nothing wrong with you. Vomiting has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BAND. I've had my band for 6 months, and I have not vomited once! I wish people stop associating the band with vomiting.

Ebeeze.... I am so jealous. I wish the after effects of the surgery were so different for me. I think you and other individuals like yourself are considered lucky. I wish everbody could have a easier transition after the surgery. It is so nerve racking as it is-just to get mentally prepared, but even when you try to stay positive and your body is in so much pain... It's hard!

Same here, I haven't had any pain really, just some pressure. I have been able to drink perfectly fine, all my Water and all my shakes. My doctor want a BM by day three, so on day two I started Benefiber and Miralax, and then a little Phillips for an extra umph, did have diarrhea for the next several days any time I drank a Protein Shake, but it's getting better. I have had a little shoulder pain, but that's only because I have been using my arm to help me get up. Didn't not have ANY gas pains (doctor gave me Metzolov, which makes your organs contract a little faster, moving the gas through your system much more quickly), and I feel so bad for everyone who is having trouble drinking liquids, shakes, etc. Hang in there guys!

Hi there... technically you're correct in saying it's not the band that causes the vomiting. I'd like to add to that and say that it is caused by overfilling the pouch that the band has created. You are obviously having portion sizes that are just right so you've haven't had that impulse. It's difficult for many people in the early days to sense when they've had enough and vomiting occurs. It's all about trial and error and learning how to eat in a new way. By the way there is tons of literature about vomiting and the banding procedure so it is very common. You are one of the lucky ones!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
