YIPPEE!!! Just received approval from insurance for TT

Recommended Posts

Though the procedure was listed as covered, I still had some doubts and thought I'd need to jump through hoops...

PS submitted the paperwork Monday and I received the letter yesterday. I could barely sleep last time due to the excitement. I've never had a flat tummy and can't believe that for the first time in my life it's going to happen.

I'd scheduled leave for the Christmas holidays earlier in the year and believe that I'll add another week to my leave and do it then.

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks!

I have BCBSMA. Give your insurance a call. I called mine and initially thought they would only cover a panniculectomy, then decided to check muscle repair and surprise! I found that they cover panniculectomy or abdominoplasty. I contacted the PS, then sent him a copy of the info retrieved from the insurance site and voila!

Do you have any problems with the extra skin that you had to prove to your insurance? What kind of documentation did you need from your Primary care Dr.? I have great insurance and plenty of extra skin, but no problems with it except it makes in hard to exercise.....

I'd suggest that you mention skin irritation at every appt. My lapband doc has his patients fill out a form w/ each visit and one of the questions is do you suffer w/ rashes... I also mentioned rashes to my primary doc who suggested an over the counter med. It appears that the PS didn't get any info from either doc. Once I made my decision and informed the PS that I was going with him, his assistant contacted my insurance and I received the letter of approval in less than a week.

Not sure the reasoning behind the approval but thankful that it went so smoothly.

Lellow - yes, I plan to talke before/after pics and will provide details along the way. I REALLYL appreciate and have learned a great deal from reading your posts re: plastic surgery.

20 days and counting....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
