tmx000 0 Posted October 1, 2010 I have a machine and I actually used it for about 2 months. I cant sleep well with it and do hate it with a passion.
RaSCal 0 Posted October 1, 2010 I had my dentist make me a mouthpiece that holds my lower jaw out. I sleep great now. A large percentage of people get the cpap machine, use if for a short period of time and then put it in the closet.

MRSKOUBiK 27 Posted October 1, 2010 I'm sorry  My doctor recommended me for a sleep study. I told him that the only thing they'd be studying is me actin' a fool. I don't sleep in front of people well.

latin_starr 0 Posted October 2, 2010 amy...i went for mine in march. it was like a hotel room. it was nice to have a lil break from kids/husband. i couldn't sleep so they had to send me home with a wrist band that would monitor me. turns out i stopped breathing 15 times an hour...scary huh? the doc told me that that was a mild number!!! i slept with the mask on for about 3 months then quit...i go back n forth coz when i do use it..i have a more peaceful sleep but anything tight around my head gives me a headache... amybethy 0 Posted October 2, 2010 Well my place said I'll have to have an average of 20 times an hour to be sent home with a c pap so I hope I'm under that.
CSE 0 Posted October 2, 2010 Hi, I also had to have the sleep study because of my BMI and neck size. I do snore but don't have other symptoms of sleep apnea. The sleep study was annoying, but ok. They found 1 minor blip in my sleep pattern and the Dr. told me that if I wasn't scheduled for surgery, he would not have prescribed the CPAP mask because it was so minor, but since I was having surgery he set me up with the mask and made me go back in for a second sleep study while wearing the mask. That was annoying because I had a really hard time falling asleep wearing the mask. I had to bring the mask with me on my surgery day so they could put it on me while in recovery. I woke up from surgery and was pleased to see they never put the mask on me. The anesthesiologist said I was fine and didn't need it. My mask is in my closet now and will be going back to the company that it is rented from very soon! Best of luck to you. Hopefully you will be able to tolerate it better than me. Bryn 3 Posted October 2, 2010 if folks have trouble sleeping with the machine, there are pillows to help create some comfort while sleeping with the machine, or there are poles to help hold the hose up in the air so it's not tangled around your face and there are braces, etc that will keep your jaw closed at night. don't hesitate to ask or search for these items. lots of people have sleep apnea and just don't realize it. even very fit people
