I don't think this is normal

Recommended Posts

I feel like im losing my mind! Is this normal? All I can do is cry, I feel like im in a constant panic attack and although I quit smoking 4 months, 1 week and 5 days ago, I want to smoke like nobody’s business. My nerves are frazzled, my hands are shaky, and I would kill for a cheese stick right now! Did I mention it’s only 7:50 am and just started liquids today AND, I don’t have surgery until tomorrow? OMG.

Im so excited, but I cannot even begin to express all the emotions I am feeling right now. Does everyone go thru this?

Yes, yes, yes!! You will get through this and other episodes as you change your life and food habits. Try to take your mind off of it. Take a walk, bubble baths, get lost in a good book, watch movies, etc.

Even at 6 months out, I struggle through the times when I used to turn to food. And get a little emotional. How can we not be emotional? We are replacing our best friend - food - with a healthy lifestyle. Losing friends is always tough but food was a friend that never gave opinions, always was there, provided needed comfort, etc.

Post alot and read threads. Everyone has challenging times in this process. Good luck.

Don't worry - I think everyone goes through this to some degree. You're taking a life changing step tomorrow, but you're going to be just fine.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Let us know how you're doing when you get back home! :)

First, congratulations on quitting smoking - undeniably one of the hardest things to do on the planet. On top of that, our relationship with food has to change forever....look at all you are doing for your health and be proud. Know that you are an example to those around you and just get through it - you can do it! You have been doing it. Just as Shirley just said, there WILL come a day when you will look back and be so thrilled.

On a personal note, I appreciate your honesty because I'll be banded next week and have been getting nervous about losing my best friend also. food has been there for me when I lost my dad, my two beloved sons left for college and my husband left me for a @#&$%* half his age (any negative word here will do!) all within the last four years. What will I do without it? Try and listen over and over and over to the words I just wrote to you. Kind of hard to listen to ourselves sometimes, but trust that so many of us know what you're going through and are here to support you. Keep your chin up and, really, don't worry, everything will be fine! Kim

I was a NEEERRRRRVVVOOOUUUSSSSS wreck the days before my surgery...

and you know what... It went easy, and has been SOOO worth while.

You can make it. Take a nice walk, a soothing bath, take your mind off of it.

All will be well.

I'm also having my surgery tomorrow. I'm at work right now - and as you can see by the fact that I'm posting here - not getting ANY work done. I'm thinking I've lost my mind, but that is a somewhat normal for me. Here's a virtual {{{hug}}} and a good luck to us both.

Yes, I think everyone freaks out a little before surgery. The fact is, your entire life is about to change, and even though it will be for the better, it is still a little scary!

You will be just fine. Surgery is scary, regardless of how safe this surgery is. And you are probably mourning your food addiction a little bit because you know you are making a step that will not permit you to take emotional comfort in food any more. It's like saying goodbye to a good friend. But I have to tell you, my new friends Health and Fitness are a lot more fun to be around :-)

I wasn't nervous at all, I was just plain excited and couldn't wait to get it over with. However, panic kicked in the day after I was banded. I was freaked out over the foreign device in my belly, as if a sneeze would send it blasting through my spleen or somebody would run into me with a knife. All your crazy emotions are totally normal, ya big weirdo! Just kidding, you're normal.

I was banded on 111105. I still am worried about how I will do. I lost a lot of weight at 1st, now it seems like I am at a stand still. I am scared to death of going to get a fill tmorrow. Does it hurt? How long does it take? What is it like?

If you are like me you have a slight bit of discomfort when you push on the port site...well the fill is not even that much of discomfort.

My physican has me lay back on a table, he inserts what apears like a "butterfly" in the post, they will draw out any Fluid that you may have just to see if you have in what you are suppose to, then they pull up the saline and insert it in the catheter "butterfly". Before you leave they will have you drink Water to be certain that you are not toooo tight. You will do well!! Huggs, Shirley

I am right there with ya girl, I also quit smoking, it has been 3 weeks now. I am waiting for insurance approval and my nerves are SHOT. I am fighting the nicotte demon as well. We got to hang in there though. You are so close to your new life. My prayers are with you.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
