ToLoveMyself 0 Posted September 30, 2010 My Dr. found the port easily (feeling around on my tummy) and then he cleaned and numbed the skin. I did not feel any pain after that, just pressure as he inserted the needle. I could "feel" it when he made contact w/the port. It was all over really quick. Then I was in the waiting room sipping on an 8oz bottle of Water. Once I had the water down with no complications, I was out the door. I do feel like I've swalled one of my sons little bouncy balls. Like I have something stuck in my throat. I'm on liquids for 36 hrs. I'm sipping on a Protein mix now. It's taking me 20-30 mintues to get it down. Nice and slow and easy. eadreel 0 Posted October 2, 2010 I was supposed to have my first fill today, but after my doc dug around and tried over and over to get the needle in the port, I asked him to stop and schedule to do my first fill under fluoroscope. He the thinks my port might of flipped over and the ultra sound showed it is slanted instead of level. The needle would hit the port but skitter off it like it was hitting something hard. He did say I lost 2 pounds in two weeks.
effini 0 Posted October 15, 2010 I had my first fill 5 hours ago (6 wks after surgery). Went from 1.5cc to 4.0cc. I've been alternating between needing to burp, burping, having the hiccups, and feeling like I'm going to vomit... after only 8oz of Water and 12oz of coffee (doc said coffee was okay). NO problem sticking to liquids today. I tried to chew some gum but that was a big mistake (I started hyper-salivating like I was going to vomit). If I'm up for it, I can return to regular food tomorrow. If this burp/hiccup pattern doesn't stop within a few days, I'll go for a partial un-fill.
