A question for women

Recommended Posts

I have a question for women that are still menstruating. Do you find it harder to eat or have more issues getting food down during your period? I thought I read somewhere that the Fluid retention and bloating can cause some issues.

Yes, I am tighter just before and at the beginning of my period. I think this is a fairly common phenomenon.

yes, absolutely. twice now, ive suddenly been too tight at the onset of my period. one of those time i ended up in the ER, unable to keep down Water and in a lot of pain. when i brought this up to my surgeon he claimed, "thats not possible". well, he doesnt have a uterus or a band and hasnt experienced it so, in his mind, it doesnt happen.

but yes, it does happen, it is common and it does indeed suck.

The first TOM after surgery (several weeks after) I did get restriction suddently before it started. This month I did not get restriction at all. I am on bloodthinners so my TOM is irregular regarding timing. I had incredible hunger this week and did'nt know, TOM started 2 days later.

It can vary for me, some months I notice nothing, but I have had probably less than 20 pb's in 5 years with the band and I would say they've ALL happened in the couple of days before my period starts. Its quite a noticeable pattern.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
