Scars...what are you using?

Recommended Posts

I have been banded for a little over 2 months now and my scars have healed up nicely but they are very dark and are now making my strech marks look like nothing.B) So my question is what are you using or doing if anything and/if you have what have you used that didn't work? I don't like to waste money but would like do something about these 5 scars. Any help would be greatly appreciate it!

Thanks!

Stefani

Hi Stefani, I was just wondering the same thing. Ive noticed they got darker recently. Or im completely losing my mind. Im going in for my 2nd fill tomorrow and Im going to ask the Dr what he recommends & also asks his staff if they know what has worked for their patients. Will update tomorrow.

The best thing for scars is Rose Hip Seed oil. Research on women post-mastectomy showed incredible results on scars. RHS oil actual regenerates cells. I used it on mine and they're almost invisible.

I have Mederma but I don't use it. I already had scars on my belly from my gallbladder surgery and now they are a really pale pink so I figured the Lap band scars should fade out and look the same way.

I was using Mederma, which seemed to be working out well until I broke out into a rash! So now my scars look horrible and I need to try something different- AFTER this rash heals.

I asked the OBGYN I work for what he though and he said Vitamin E oil or the Rose Hip Seed. He said the rose hip seed can be hard to fine, where I live anyway. The Vitamin E is doing great for me. I apply it 2-3 times a day.

try some pure Vitamin E oil. just rub some of the oil across your tummy and it will stop the itching and restore the color.

I was told not to use anything like Mederma for six MONTHS postop.

By then, my scars had faded so much I didn't bother---I haven't done anything other than use my regular body lotion (and even that, I'm pretty unreliable about doing).

I have been using the mederma, vit e oil and my healthfood/vitamin store recomended 100% pure aloe 1 tbsp per day. Its great for the skin healing. even with burns of all sorts. I keep it refrigerated and it tastes gross. I also put it directly on the scars. Im very happy with the progress of my scars

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
