Tired of worrying about band problem!

Recommended Posts

So EVERY TIME I get a stomach ache I worry that there is a problem with my band or a problem that can lead to it having to come out! I am almost 8 months out from my band surgery and 3 months out from having my Gall Bladder removed. About 3 weeks after my GB was removed I started getting a burning sensation in my stomach every now and again. It never comes up like acid reflux but just makes me uncomfortable all day. Then I stress about if this is a problem with my band or could it be a result of bile constantly dripping into my intestines??? Did I eat something that did not agree with me. Should I call the surgeon or my PCP?? I guess I worry a bit more since I was self-pay and if this had to come out, I would not be able to afford to have a different surgery.

It doesn't sound like the usual sort of band trouble. If you are experiencing such discomfort call the doc. You might have an ulcer or a complication of your gb surgery, who knows? It sounds like you need a bit of testing though to get to the bottom of what is going on. Don't sit on it and let what ever it is get worse!

good luck and let us know what happens,

Went to the doc today and he suspects Gastritis. He put me on Pepcid daily and a follow up in 2weeks. If I continue to have symptoms in that 2 weeks he is going to do an endoscope. He says at 8cc in a 9cc band I am pretty tight. I don't feel it like I have seen others describe. I don't get stuck, I don't pb/slime. I can still eat my 5oz of food at each meal and not feel full but mostly satisfied.

I asked if developing an ulcer meant that the band had to come out (which I have read on other post) and he said no. That it will be treated the same as treating someone without the band (relief). So, I hope the pepcid helps the irritation in my stomach (I have not had actual reflux) just a dull burning sensation.

That's great that the doc is on the trail of what is wrong and he doesn't think it's your band. Big relief. Good that he is taking a conservative approach. Soon you will be feeling better (and didn't it add to your pain not knowing, I'd bet you feel better already )

Take care,

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
