First off let me introduce myself. My names Brittney-Allyse and I'm 21 years old and I'm getting banding tomorrow (9.28.10) morning. It's been one hell of a two weeks but it's coming to an end and I'm ready for the next step. It's been a long process to get me to where I am, starting back in November 2009. I had everything ready and was about to set a surgery date until I got a call from my surgeon's office stating that they had found an abnormally large cyst that was to be taken care of before I could get banded. After test, doctor's visits I finally had the cyst removed and was one step closer to this procedure. Now, almost a year later my surgery date is here and I'm ready to change my life for the better.

WOW -- How exciting -- just a few hours left!! Best of luck to you. Just think, you may have already done the hardest part -- all those months since they first found the cyst. I had a scare this week that my surgery might be cancelled or postponed due to an abnormal EKG and I about freaked and quit trying, so I admire you for making it through and getting to this point. I hope you're ready to go to bed and get a few hours of sleep in before your big day. I'm 1 day and 5 hrs from my surgery -- so right behind you. I'll look forward to hearing from you when you feel well enough to post again to see how you're doing! Best of luck and prayers! Debbie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
