For some reason, my weight doesn't go up. I do feel fat, bloated, and moody. Luckily, my weight isn't affected. You will lose those 3 pounds though!

OmG! I was driving down a busy street with all the fast food joints lined up on this past Friday and I was craving all of them and I didn't know why! I usually drive past all of them without a second thought. I wanted fried catfish so bad and Mexican food. I couldn't resist the chocolate cravings though! I got a small bag of M&M's and enjoyed it. Around 9pm it came and I was like no wonder!!!!! I didn't know what was going on!

Yes, I dont really realise I'm craving, but suddenly think "man, I've eaten CRAP for the past few days, I'd better get back on track". sure enough, then I notice sore boobs, the scale goes up, Auntie Flo pays a visit and a week later I"m back to normal weight and eating well again.

I just go with it. I cant be bothered stressing over what is a very natural, normal cycle for many women and appears to do absolutely no long term damage to my weight control. I just stay off the scales that week.

Yes I gain a little, feel bloated and fat, I crave and binge sometimes. The bad thing is that since I am losing estrigen is being released and although I am on BC I have had a mini period for about three weeks and then yesterday right on cue it came on full strength.

I guess it will level out when the weight stablizes. I am stuck right now at 260 and can't get over that hump. I hope when Flo leaves it will take a few pounds with it.

Good luck

Glad I am not alone.... It is a few days before my time and all I can think about is food!!!! I took a walk and found myself counting the resturants within walking distance..OMG....(their are 17 eating places within 3 miles of my house)...Finally settled on a couple pieces of SF Hershey Chocolate... Only 6 days post op and afraid to eat to much...

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
