I cannot seem to stop thinking about food. I "think" I am hungry all of the time. I need help.

I would try some dense Protein when you feel hungry (like chicken breast strips) this may stop the hunger feelings. Eating anything that will slip through is pointless so no chips or crackers.

What are you eating? Have you reached restriction?

Are you eating a low carb diet? My .02...eliminate rice, Pasta, potatoes, starchy vegetables and anything from your diet for two weeks. The more carbs you have in your system, the more likely you'll be 'hungry'.

I'm not hungry all the time.. but I sure want to chew. I chew s/f gum, or sometimes grab a piece of beef Jerky.

Or if you know you should not be hungry (ie only 2 hours after a meal).. try drinking some Water.

The other suggestions already posted are also good.

I'm guessing you may not have reached good restriction yet. When I get hungry, my judgment becomes impaired. I prevent this by having good food on hand and eating regularly scheduled Snacks (a handful of almonds, a cheese stick, some yogurt, a Protein bar or shake) -- it makes all the difference in the world.

7am Breakfast

10am snack

12 lunch

4pm Snack

6pm dinner

9pm Snack (if wanted)

And LOTS of Water in between (half an hour after eating). Until I had good restriction, I didn't beat myself up about eating "too much" as long as it was nutritious, sufficient Protein, etc.

If you feel you DO have good restriction, then it may be more complex than just food. This gets into an area that may best be addressed with a support group, therapy, journaling, etc.

I know for me, it is a long slow process, getting used to this new way of life. Sometimes it's uncomfortable. Food has been my best friend and comfort for a long, long time. It takes a while to change that mindset. But I think if I keep at it and do all the positive stuff, the changes will come.

Good luck to you!

Thank you for all of the suggestions. I am not at good restriction yet. I have only had one fill. My surgery was in May and I had my first fill last week. I can't tell a difference at all. I find myself snacking all day long. I did really really good at first staying away from the vending machine and all of that....now....not so much. I have pulled out the fat pictures and made a commitment to myself to not have bad Snacks today! I brought my Protein shake with me for Breakfast and another for an afternoon snack. I also have some string cheese in the fridge just calling my name. I had a long talk with me last night. I didn't do all of this to get fat again. This is a LIFESTYLE change. It didn't take me long to get fat, but it didn't happen overnight. Its going to take time to get this off.....and I am just going to have to take it one day at a time.

Thanks again for the responses. It means a lot when you can actually get support from people who have been through the same thing.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
